Outlook 2000 Problem

Last week, one of the employees here received an email with a link to one of those photographer's sites where you can view pictures taken recently and place an order... now I am not 100% sure that this is directly related to what has been happening since BUT it is after this email that the problem has started.

Problem:
Outlook will open, be accessible for only a few mintues before closing down sighting that it has "experienced a problem" giving you the option to view further info on what happen -- which only a true tech can read. Other than this, the system is fine and runs several other programs without issue.

Action(s) taken:
> ran "detect and repair" in Outlook.
> downloaded and installed a recent Outlook security patch from MS.
> cleaned out the 'questionable' email as well as the other emails in the trash bin.
> ran Inbox Repair on the various PST files for this account.
> ran a spyware program.
> ran Norton AV.

Getting to the point of uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling the entire program (hate to do it but can and will if it will help). Unless, someone else has an idea as to what is going on or where to look?

System spec's:
Dell 4400 / 20GB HDD / 768MB RAM
WinXP w/ SP2
Norton AV (runs every Friday and gets automatic updates)
MS Office 2000 (includes the aforementioned Outlook)

Anyone have a clue?

 

Have you tried a repair installation of Office? It can be done as if you were installing for the first time, but with Office already on the system. Just insert the CD, and follow the prompts, ensuring that you select 'Repair' under type of installation. Its a great way to fix many Office problems, with minimal impact on your current configuration.
