Outlook 2000 Send Key problem

I am using Office 2000 under XP SP3 and use shortcut keys extensively.

Recently in Outlook when creating an email, Alt + S which used to Send the email no longer works as advertised.

Pressing the keys changes the focus to the Send button, but I now have to press Enter to make it work.

This happened about 2 years ago and a few months ago it suddenly changed back to working, and now its has changed again to not working.

I have not changed anything - as far as I know as I tend not to muck around with something I am happy with. Any thoughts as to why this changes and how I can change it back?

    Regards

You could try Detect and Repair under Help in Outlook - not sure if Outlook 2000 had that option though.
Otherwise, maybe reinstall Outlook, if possible.

    Hi

I would try what GCWesq has mentioned in the Detect and Repair option but as its Outlook I would add the thought of what Anti-virus software do you use and does it have a email scanning option, if it does disable it as many cause all sorts of issues in Outlook and IMHO a scan option for email is not needed as the general file scanner will catch any malware anyway, never harmed me in not having email scanning enabled.

Please do tell us what anti-virus software you have, make and version?

Hi all, and thanks for the replies, and sorry about the delay in replying. I have just moved countries and the relevant disks, amongst other things have only just been unpacked.

OK, the Outlook 'Detect & Repair' didn't achieve anything towards restoring the shortcut, despite the 'Restore Shortcuts' box being checked.

I use AVG Free 2011 V 10.0.1382 for my anti virus.

I guess that it could be that as I have had several updates to AVG since the original installation. Unfortunately I can't correlate the change of shortcut to any particular AVG update.

    Any other suggestions
