Hi. Recently I have been having problems with Microsoft Outlook 2003; no one can receive any mail that I send. I can receive mail fine. When I click send/receive I get no errors and the message leaves the "outbox." I believe this started when I accidentally tried to send and 8 Meg attachment without realizing it. In the bottom it says, "sending message 1 of 22," but never changes, like the mail server is rejecting it or something. I can successfully send mail when I use the web interface. When I added a new account to Outlook it didn't work. There are no problems with my account settings. I have tried everything from deleting the account to deleting the .pst to reinstalling office. It still says "sending Message 1 of 22." I thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

hmm..do you have any desktop search programs installed ? Sounds like something is locking the PST file.

If Outlook is still trying to send a message, even though the .pst file has been deleted, that leads me to believe that there are more then one .pst or .wab file on this system. What is in the Sent items, or outgoing folder?

pst files are created on load of Outlook if there are none available. A pst file is a requirement for Outlook.

Actually, you can run Outlook without creating a .pst file. .pst files are used when you create a PoST office mailbox for sending and receiving emails.

    damn it's late..
pst files hold calendar info etc.. not just email stuff. there's only one file other than the OST which is the offline file commonly used when attached to xchange..

Unless you use the Calendar or such, you can start up Outlook from initial load to a computer, without writing a .pst or .ost to the drive. Cancel the screen to create the file or user profile, and you are able to go right into outlook.

and so then what is the point.. other than that, this part of the discussion is out of scope of the topic. Do you have any solutions?

Jonny, what Third Party Add-ons are showing installed in Outlook? Also, Inetcomm.dll is a known bug with Outlook 2k2/2k3, which can cause problems sending messages with a Internet server.

Also, whos is your provider, due to there may be some underlying with your smtp server that you are trying to send messages to.

I have SBC Yahoo DSL. I was on a support call the other day and they confirmed that it is me and not them. Like I said, my other computer works with the same settings. I do not know of any 3rd party addons.

Could you explain what you meant about Inetcomm.dll being a known error?

Right now there is no known fix for the Inetcomm.dll problem, as I found out from Microsoft.com.

I have Outlook 2003, not Outlook Express. Is there a way to COMPLETELY uninstall it? A regular uninstall leaves all of the settings files.

If you are talking about the .pst file, no. If you are talking about Inetcomm.dll, it has to be on the system, in order for Outlook to work.

It would end up breaking 2k3 if you did that. If you have not done so, you may want to attempt to repair the .pst, or even Outlook. To repair the .pst, use the Inbox repair tool: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP010210641033.aspx

Are you outgoing messages still viewable in your Outbox? If so, you may try to delete them. Sounds to me that your client is spending its time trying to send 8MB X 22. (?)
