Outlook 2003 running on a windows 2000 OS environment. Networked. Not using exchange server.

When I click test account settings in outlook '03 I get the following error message

When a send receive is scheduled to take place it times out when it is receiving 27/108 messeges. If you delete the messeges in the end box when you hit send receive they are replaced in the Inbox in duplicates of 2 to 4 depending on message.

The user claims nothing was done differently on her computer to cause of any of this. Some stated that the email server was done the other day and could have had something to do with the issue.

I checked in the connection settings box and was unable to find any settings which were not as they should be. The only boxed checked is connect to LAN

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are there other machines running with same/similar configuration on that network segment? And have you tried a different e-mail client, to see if it is an issue with the machine and not Outlook 2003?

EDIT: Do those ones that have similar/same config have that problem or is it only on the one machine?

Sorry I meant to add this, Outlook express works fine on her computer, she can access all the information etc., every other machine works fine up there as well. Also she is able to access her email from home via outlook express so we know it not her account. This is becoming so frustraiting :(

Save the PST file for the user.. Remove the account. Then create a new account with a new pst file and the same config required for mail access. Then try to get the mail.

you have to remove the account. Outlook should make a new pst file when it opens.

How can i delete the stuff in the in box? I want it to be as if outlook was never used. Is there a way to do this? I tried deleting the account and then creating a new one but the samething occurs.

You may have to delete the .pst file that is backed up.

It's hidden. If you try to pretend to pretend to export all the email settings, it will ask you where to save it, by default it wants to save in the same folder the backup .pst files are saved. Get the path and then remove all .pst files in that folder. This should help you 'start fresh'.

delete the account, close outlook.. DO NOT OPEN IT UP. fine the pst file that was used and rename it.. then open outlook. A new pst file will be created. Configure new account. If you don't rename or remove the pst file then it will use it as the default. The default name is outlook.pst. Find it..

My previous post may help you find the path.

Okay that worked but now when i try to open up the address book it says:

The user has a ton of contacts in the address book. I don't want her to lose anything.

ok, when you recreated the account, it makes a new pst file. Import the contacts from the old pst file to the new one.
