Outlook is creating files all over the place on my computer. Two folders, outlook calendar and outlook contact, will just randomly show up in folders I've created on the desktop, the desktop itself, etc.

I found an answer to the problem on another website:

    http://www.eggheadcafe.com/conversationlist.aspx?groupid=1490&startdate=24-May-07&enddate=31-May-07

Apparently, the problem is caused by this "Add-in" put on Dell computers and has something to do with Media Direct trying to "pull" the data and somehow it creates these folders.

My Question: It says to simply remove the add-in. Does this mean I just delete the folder or is there some way to properly uninstall this thing to ensure all of it is gone and I won't have this problem occurring over and over?

    Thanks.

In Outlook you need click tools > Trust Centre > Add-in's and uncheck the addin.

Sorry for sounding stupid, but how do I disable it. I tried highlighting and then selecting disable from the drop down menu followed by clicking "Go" and a box pops up saying that I haven't selected anything... and I see an Add-in for contacts and calendar, but it's a different path name than the one I found in that linked thread below... it said it was OLAddin found in Program Files >> Dell >> Media Direct >> OLAddin, the one in Outlook's Add-ins is called OutlookAddin and found in a Miscrosoft folder. If I disable this add-in will I lose the calendar function and my contact list?

Ok, I discovered how to disable it. But my question on losing the calendar and contacts list functions still applies. Any insights?

No you wont lose the calendar or contact list in outlook but if you want to view it in media direct you won't be able to after you remove the addin.

When I disable the add-in, however, everytime I start Outlook it sends me a warning that there are several things not functioning.

Can you post back with the exact warning - what things is it saying are not functioning.
