I have reached the end of my rope with Microsoft but have no other viable options. I bought a Dell Inspiron 640m computer in early 2007. It has the dual core (?) processor and 2GB of RAM. Etc Etc Operating System is Vista, and I decided to upgrade my Office XP Pro to Office 2007 Pro. I did it because I really liked the changes in Word & Excel. Then came the loading of Outlook 2007 and BCM, and then my whole world collapsed, or pretty darned close to it. I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent on the phone with Microsoft (advantage of purchasing product direct from Microsoft).

Biggest complaints? Lost data. First problem had to do with a BCM database that went on a walkabout only never to return. I lost 4 weeks of contact info. That was in Feb 2007.

Problem #2. Not being able to collapse "Categories" in BCM without having the program lockup. Open Task Manager and close Outlook. It was interesting that doing the same task with the "right click" posed no problems, but try to do it from the tool bar and everything freezes. That was fun. 10 hours on the phone with Microsoft loading and unloading the software program.

Problem #3. Accounting 2007. All that loading and unloading and now, even though I paid for it. Accounting 2007 does not recognize my Product Key.

Problem #4. Who else out there is totally frustrated trying to synch Outlook BCM 2007 with your Smart Phone?

Problem #5. On Monday while preoccupied on the phone the message "Do you want to archive your old Outlook files?" appeared on the screen. I absent mindedly told it to go ahead. Next thing I know I get an error message. Then I notice that one of my personal Outlook folders has gone on a walkabout (I live in the US not Australia but it is an appropriate saying in this case). Figures it is my personal stuff; all my business folders are still there. Then I notice my Archive is empty. On the phone with Microsoft again only to find out that the "error" dumped everything and it is no longer recoverable. Ooops, another month of data gone. I try to backup, and I should know better, but I don't seem to learn.

But the Microsoft people in India are so friendly, some of whom I have been on the phone with so much I even know the names of their family.

Sorry this is so long but ......

So, we get to my issue. I want to reformat my hard drive and start from scratch. Can it be done or will I just be making my problems even worse?
