    Greetings,

I am SO confused. I am also SO glad you all are here.

I am attempting to consolidate my Gmail and Outlook files. I want to reduce the number of files in both Outlook, and within my two Gmail accounts.

I want to be able to access these old emails later. Ultimately, I hope to send them ALL to a new Gmail account created purely for storing about 10 years of about 100K, or 10 GB of emails. I want to shrink the Gmail account and Outlook.

Call me old fashioned, but I want to save more than just headers locally, and don't care if it takes days to do it.

In this process, I am learning more about Outlook 2007 and POP vs IMAP than I really wanted to, oh well. IMAP does appear to have an advantage.

I will likely have several questions in this thread and hope you can help me get clear on what to do.

At this point, saving all the email to a file on my HD would be ok, although I'd prefer to send them all to a new Gmail account.

If you can share a strategy with me in order to accomplish this, I'd be ever so happy. Gleeful, even.

    Current setup:

    PC - Win7x64
    New Android Note4
    Outlook 2007 - SP3
    Gmail account Mail1
Gmail account Mail2 (forwards copy to Mail1)

    OLD Outlook setup - POP
Personal Folders had Inbox and large tree of folders
I have a very large tree of folders that I want to always be able to access on my PC at home/work.

    NEW Outlook setup - IMAP
Personal Files and tree sits there (does not update)
Mail1 Gmail account created and shows Inbox (Where Promotions and Social tabs mails?)
Mail2 Gmail account is created and shows Inbox and small Gmail tree

Before I make more of a mess of things, a couple of early questions: Outlook - why don't I see mails forwarded to my Gmail2 account? Where have I goofed? I want all the new mail coming into both Mail1 and Mail2 accounts to go into one Outlook folder. I though I'd accomplished that by going into Mail2 at Gmail, settings, and 'forward a copy to Mail1' (leaving a copy there at Mail2 marked as 'read'). I see that Mail2 arrived on my smartphone into the Mail1 account, but it is not visible in the Mail1 account in Outlook. What gives?

More questions to come. I'll stop at this for now.

    TIA

    DrCarl

UPDATE: forwarding seems to be working now in Gmail. I am proceeding with transfer of everything to "eM C" with a copy on my local drive, and a copy in a new gmail acct.

    Thread closed.
