Outlook Express- Condense messages issue

I realize that outlook express prompts you to condense messages after every 100 times you open outlook express. I also realize that I can reset the counter using regedit and compact check count. Having said that, I get the condense message alert about every 15 minutes. I am sick and tired of having to compact check count every few minutes to stop the pop up. Apparently Outlook express is opening and closing in the background. The compact check count under regedit goes from a reset of 0 to 65 hexadecimal every 12-15 minutes. I have cancelled all accounts with outlook express, stopped using it altogether and still have the same issue every 15 minutes. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue. I cannot figure out how to delete Outlook Express entirely. Registry Mechanic finds no issues, neither does Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware, nor does Windows Defender find any problems. Any ideas greatly appreciated. I find nothing unusual using HiJackThis either.

 

I'd give this a try. Go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and click on Add/Remove Windows Components (on the left side of the Add or Remove Programs panel). Find Outlook Express and uncheck the box. Apply and close. This does not actually remove OE files from the system, so I can't say for sure whether it will stop the abnormal behavior, the "opening and closing in the background", OE is causing in your computer.

By the way, have you ever allowed OE to go through the process of compacting messages? I'm not sure what you mean by "compact check count".
