    HI All,

I want to point my backup program to Outlook Express files so that all my emails are backed up.

I could find them on my old win98 but can't find them on my new XP system.

I have searched "*.dbx" and "inbox" but nothing.

I navigated to the folder as shown in Outlook Express options, but the folder was empty. I have enabled view to include seeing hidden files. And this folders properties indicated that it held 0 capacity.

    Where are they hidding?

    C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXXXX\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{BB08FADA-5D7E-44C2-BFAC-D69236325CA4}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

where XXXXX is your user/system name and the alpha/numerical data in the { } will also be different to the above.

an easy way to find exactly where the location is, is open Outlook Express and navigate to this Tools > Options > Maintenance > click Store folder > Highlight and copy the location supplied

then open the C drive and paste the location in the Address Bar and hit GO and the OE message store will appear for you to copy the DBX files.
