Outlook Express Folder Location??

A mate of mine has "accidentally" deleted a folder from Outlook Express and is moaning to me to retrieve it, but I don't know where in the wealth of folders XP keeps mail for Outlook Express. The folder was created within the Inbox, it was just a subfolder, but it had all his mail in it (and he's quite keen to get it back!). Any ideas where I can look to find the missing emails??

Depends on where he deleated the folder, if he did it within OE, may not be able to get it back.

Anyhow, start drilling down this way:

c:\Documents and Settings\{UserName}\Local Configuration\Program Data\Identities\{Some letters and numbers}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\

It's long but there, If there is more than one \{Some letters and numbers}\, then look in each Outlook Express dir and see which one matches what he thinks his structure is.

Well, a few corrections:
Local Configuration should be Local Settings
Program Data should be Application Data

To see the location yourself:
open Outlook Express > Tools > Options > Maintenance > click on 'Store Folder..' button

however since your friend deleted the folder much like a file/folder delete from Recycle Bin he might have to download, install and use a data recovery utility. Also make sure he doesn't modify any file or delete/create new files/folder that would re-use the same exact sectors on the HardDisk that the deleted Outlook Express folder might have been using thus making the recovery much harder even impossible.

As this folder is on c: I don't think a data recovery will help unless it went to recycle bin. To many things are always writing to c:.
