    Hi guys,
I have a customer using Outlook Express 6. They've deleted a number of folders from OE's interface, the folder list...they now want to recover those folders. The files themselves are still showing in .DBX form within their identity folder. Anyway to get these back into Outlook Express for access?

Importing does not seem to work for him.

    Thanks!

    Mike

The .DBX files should be in one of the following locations. Just copy/paste the DBX files into these locations and then run Outlook Express, everything should be there.

*Note, under Identities the long characters in the curly brackets may be different.

    C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Identities\{A485FEB5-F023-4619-B7FD-35E2C916D421}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

    C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{A688FEB5-F099-4869-B7LG-35E2C968D421}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

    Hi again,
The DBX files are actually still in the current Outlook Express identify folder, the files were never moved or deleted. What this customer did was right click on the file in OE, and go to Delete. He then deleted the folder from the Deleted Items folder. Now, the file itself still shows up in the identity folder, but it's not listed in OE.

So, apparently just having the files in the identity folder does NOT put them back into the folder list in Express, because the files themselves never moved.

Okay, I see what you're saying, you can try to use Recover My Files to recover the folder/files.

Try going to the Identities folder and deleting the file "Folders.dbx". Make sure you have Outlook Express closed first, after the file is deleted start up Outlook Express.
