Hi,I need the help of Major Geeks again,I'm a little in the dark about this so bare with me. My friend cannot get into her Outlook Express mail, she tells me it will not accept her password. She said it worked fine the other day and she's the only one that uses the computer.

She has XP Home I think maybe Pro

If your absolutly sure that no one has been on the machine and changed your password then you need to contact your ISP to correct it. The password for Outlook Express to retreive email may be stored on your computer for convience but doesnt have to be. The email vendor(usually your ISP) would have to be contacted if someone has changed your password. Hackers don't need access to your computer to change it, they only need to know or be able to hack your password to change it. If it has been compromised you should not wait to contact your ISP because the possible invader could be doing you harm.

I had to recover a password from a puter I was repairing last year for a friend..her son was *cough* playing games...I used one of these freeware utilities, can't recall which one for sure...maybe it's worth a shot?

    PWReveal or UnMaskIt

The password revealer is only going to show what the stored password is on the machine. It won.t help you find out what the ISP has for your password. The only password the ISP is going to accept is the one on their server.

Exactly..and Norby said she can't get into her outlook express witch to me indicates she has a program access password and it's not necessarily a download issue. As we don't have a clear picture of the situation...ie: is it she can't open OE without entering her password or is she getting a denial error via her ISP then password reveal is a viable option at this point.

Sorry. Maybe I made an incorrect evaluation. I didn't know that OE could be made to require a password simply to open the program.
