Outlook Express (spellchecker)

Got a new PC. Windows XP already installed from Dell. Outlook Express>Tools>Options> and there is NO spelling tab. In the New Message, my spellchecker is "grayed out". Meaning its not activated.
I am now going to go to my hard drive C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof and then delete the CSAPI3T1.dll. My next instruction tells me to put my Windows XP CD in. (the one that came already installed from Dell). And on my Windows XP cd, it says "The software is already installed on your computer. Only use this CD to reinstall the operating system on a Dell computer. This CD is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers"

Can I still use this CD to accomplish this kind of thing. Bare in mind, I have more instructions. I am just confuse about this XP cd labeling.

Any help any one. I would appreciate it.

this allows you to use the spell checker in OE without having Word installed.

 

No. I have Word Perfect.

 

I will try the download as my last resort. Thanks, but I will put that thought on hold. There is a spellchecker in OE, I just need to find a way to activate it.

 

hello fw190 I have dl'ed the file and installed it on my lap top but when I tried to use it in a msg. it came up saying; an error occurred while the spelling was being checked. do I need to install a dictionary from anywhere. I am running win 98se and using outlook Express.

 

My computer is brand new. Just got it last week. I should not have to do updates for my Win XP. I HAVE NO SPELLING TAB, NOR SPELLCHECKER. I do have WORD PERFECT. So why is my OutLook Express spellchecker grayed out. And why don't I have a spelling tab under tools>options.??????
