I recently upgraded a hard drive in an older laptop from a 20gb to an 80gb. I performed a complete cloning of the 20gb to the 80gb and everything went well, for the most part. This was June 17 2009. Today the PCs owner brings it back saying that his Outlook Express "Sent Items" folder is missing a bunch of stuff, basically a chunk from the fall of 2007 thru June 16 2009. Everything before Oct 2007 and after June 16 2009 is there. Luckily, I still had his old hard drive laying around and was able to recover the missing chuck. But now everything from June 17-29 2009 is missing. I had the foresight to save the "Sent Items" file that had the missing chunk before I made any changes. Is it possible to add the last 12 days to the complete "Sent Items" file somehow?
    :confused

If I didn't explain this clearly, let me know and I'll try again LOL and there's a bit of a time crunch on this.... THANKS!

    :celebrate Problem solved!!!

I'm completely lame when it comes to Outlook Express. I find it unnecessarily cumbersome and non-intuitive, and just crappy. Anyway- here's what I did. First, I had the stuff that I needed to merge to the Sent Items folder; I had it saved as "Saved-Sent Items.dbx". In the OE GUI, on the left is the list of folders like Sent Items, Inbox, Outbox, etc. I created a new folder there and called it "Items- June17-29". Then I closed OE. I then copied the "Saved-Sent Items.dbx" file that contained these items to the OE folder (enable hidden/system files):
    C:\Documents and Settings\%user name%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{string of lots of numbers and letters}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.
I then renamed this newly copied folder from "Saved-Sent Items.dbx" to "Items- June17-29.dbx" and restarted the PC (I don't know if the restart was needed). Then I opened OE, then opened "Items- June17-29" and there was the stuff I needed! So I highlighted the block of about 25 messages dated June17 thru June29, right clicked and selected "Copy to folder..." and copied 'em to the regular "Sent Items" folder. I then closed OE again, and restarted the PC again. I then re-opened OE and everything was perfect! So I then deleted the "Items- June17-29" entry from OE because it was no longer necessary at this point 'cuz it had all been copied to "Sent Items". I'm so proud of myself! LOL roflmao

(naturally I backed up the ENTIRE Outlook Express data store BEFORE messing with anything LOL )
