How can I stop the error?

I have Outlook 2007 configured to retrieve mail from two POP3 email accounts; one Gmail and one Yahoo.

Mail 'arrives' into Outlook from both accounts successfully, yet I get a little "Send/Recieve Error" notification on Outlook's bottom right border (regarding the Yahoo account).

    Error message details...

Task 'dxxxxxxxxxxb@yahoo.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90) : 'Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] problem retrieving message.'

Although the error notification does seem to go away after a bit (15 - 30 seconds) I'd like to know how can I stop this error message?

    TIA

The free Yahoo Mail service is not designed to work with POP email clients such as Outlook. So, are you using a paid version of Yahoo Mail, or what?

    Greetings usAFvet,

Yes, it's currently a Yahoo Plus (or whatever it's called) paid account. Renewal for me is in a couple of days. Last year it was $16, I think. I know there are some free 'workarounds'; using "YPops!" is one. I am on the fence about renewing...I digress.

    Best,

Sorry you can't help me - lol. Thanks for the link, anyway. I can see what that work around entails, and that every time I want to send/receive mail, it'd require additional clicks. I only have so many clicks I can spend in a day...and before the mouse breaks...so, as it is now, I just ignore the error and try to not let it bother me. This requires zero additional clicks. Be well, ~drcarl

Did this problem just recently start? As the first link I posted mentioned, this could be a Yahoo issue and might be temporary.

Browser is fine and is how I verified that delivery correctly functions.

Use ISP mail: not a chance; what happens when I want to change providers?

Use other paid service: you're joking, right? #1 I prefer free. #2 adding yet another email account is as relevant to solving the actual issue as switching to a Mac solves a Windows problem. Well, maybe that's a bit of an extreme example, yet you follow the logic, right? (How about get a new car to eliminate 'check engine' light?) There I go digressing again.

I seek relevant and effective help in solving the error message issue as originally described, please.

    TIA

If, as Outlook reports, it really is a server error then it's outside of your control. Sounds as if you don't want any workarounds but here's one anyway ;) Add the Yahoo account to Gmail and pull the messages in that way or just set the Yahoo server to automatically forward to Gmail if Yahoo offer that option. My ISP does.

    Greetings Earthlink,

Perhaps I was too curt. I suppose the reason I come here is to hear any other approaches that I'd not think of myself. Searching online for this issue with the obvious terms yields results flooded with mail delivery problems....and I get my mail just fine. I did see something about contacting my ISP because I am trying to use use two POP3 accounts simultaneously. I do sometimes tend to get on a logic and relevancy kick sometimes.

Gmail? PULL? Brilliant! I think I will try that right now! Then I'd not have tp pay for Yahoo! to forward them.

    Thanks!

Whups! Instructions I found to get Gmail to pull the mail requires Yahoo! Plus....boo hoo. Looking into YPOPS! UPDATE: might just pay for another year and hope the error goes away - lol

    free Yahoo
    http://file.walagata.com/w/perk/MjG/freeYahoo.jpg

    1. First you need to change from full featured to basic to even see the option!
    2. Once in Basic Yahoo, click the dropdown box aside of the username and select Options.
    3. In the left pane, under Advanced Options, select POP and forwarding.

The choices for Forwarding Yahoo Mail to another email address are:
    Forward only
    Store and Forward
Store and Forward and mark as read

For now...I will pay Y! another $16 and have the Y! mail showing up in GMail...no more error (even though it IS a workaround)

    Thanks all
