I have a Dell dimension 9100 and am running Windows XP Pro. Outlook 2003

3 days ago I did a fresh install with Windows XP.

I have been a subscriber of Mozy and tried to download files from Mozy.

I had difficultly with a large, 1.07 G, .pst Outlook file and finally had a link for that file emailed to me by Mozy. Which I downloaded.

    Went to File/Import and Export

Import and Export Wizard pops up: I select “Import from another program or file/Personal Folder File (.pst)

I select “Personal Folder File (.pst)

    I select the downloaded file

Select the folder to import from

    I select Archive Folders

Get pop up “Errors have been detected in the file xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Close Out look and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file.

    Close Outlook

Double click on Scanpst (do not have Scanpst.exe, are they the same?)

Pop Up: Outlook is retrieving data from the Microsoft Exchange Server “%s”. You can cancel the request oor minimize this message to the …..etc.

I have had this notice open for over 24 hours but nothing is happening…..

Any help with the above will be most appreciated……

Try downloading MS Outlook Connector and see if that helps.

You don't need to use File Import/Export for this. All versions of Outlook have Data File Management and after downloading your backed up .pst file you need to use that to make the downloaded file your default message store. I can't give you step-by-step instructions because I gave up on Outlook years ago and only use it when I have no alternative, but hopefully an Outlook 2003 user can.

Do you still have your original PST file? If so, just open it with Outlook.

Exporting/importing PST files will lose you some of the original data, and is therefore - as Earthling already pointed out - really not recommended. In fact I never understood why the option to import/export PST files exists. (It is fine to export/import to other, non-Outlook applications.)

1.When in Outlook/look under hep/ click on Office Diagnostic and run diagnostics test!
May take a few minutes but worth the try!

    2. Add and Remove/ start program like you are going to uninstal it and click on radio buttons to "Repair it!"

Let us know if any of these work!
