    Hi,

Is anyone familiar with MS Outlook abends when sending an email msg. generated by a mailto: from a web app.? The only thing populated in the msg. is the 'To' field. There is only one email address, and it is properly formed. This only occurs for one user, not all.

I've done some searching to see if there are any issues with Outlook, but haven't been able to find any.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    update...

I've learned that this happens when outlook has not been previously started.

Is there a preference/option/setting that would prevent this problem?

I have to admit; I have nooo idea what you are talking about. Sorry.

If not for myself, then for the benefit of anyone else trying to help you, could you please post more detail about your problem? A step by step description of your problem would help. Maybe some screenshots?

I'm sorry. And thanks for responding! I realize that you didn't have to.

A 'mailto:' link in an html form starts up the default email client (in this case MS Outlook).
When this link is clicked the email message window pops up with the 'To:' address populated (ex. me@somecompany.com).
When Outlook is started before this link is clicked on the web page, the message is sent without a problem.
When Outlook is not started before, a message states that Outlook is closing because of an error (the usual screen with the button to send an error report to Microsoft).

I believe that this is not an issue with the website but one with either Outlook or Exchange Server since this only happens for a certain user and not others. I was wondering if there were any Outlook or Exchange Server settings that would cause this behavior.

I hope this is a little more descriptive, and again I apologize for the confusion.

Ahhhh, okay. I am following you now. Yes, I agree with you, this does not sound like a problem with the website, but rather a problem with the Outlook client. It could be a problem with Exchange, but I wouldn't expect so, and its prudent to start with the simple things first, no?

In that light, have you attempted a repair installation of office? This is a great way to repair problems with office apps with minimal impact to your configuration. To do it is as easy as inserting your office cd, and performing an install as you normally would, only specifying that it is a repair.
