    Outlook 2002
    WinXP

New email account has been setup for Outlook but the following error occurs when sending email:

the msg could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Server REsponse: 550.5.7.1. Unable to relay for oneillgary@yahoo.com (account "mail.search2close.com, smtp server: mail.search2close.com, error number 0x800ccc79

The MSKB isn't really helpful, the article referencing can't be the answer because there are other pcs on this internet connection that have no problems. Here's the link to the MSKB:

We don't have msn and we also do not have a new email gateway so I guess I'm missing it...

Just a question, when setting up your email account did you properly set up your smtp server information from your IP for incomming and outgoing mail ???

Yes, the incoming is a pop3 and the smtp is identical.

    opey9519,

You did say it is a new account, check this.

Error 0x800ccc79 can also be caused if your address is misspelled in your account properties. In Outlook Express, click on Tools >> Accounts >> Properties. Check the spelling of your address at the bottom of the General Tab.

I was using Outlook because the user "doesn't like" OE. I checked the spelling and it was all correct, then I set the account up in OE and it worked just fine. I'm going to delete the mail account in Outlook and set the whole thing up again, then if it doesn't work, you'll hear me screaming wherever you are!

He had 5 other email accounts in there that I deleted when I set this one up this time. He doesn't even use them but I'm thinking it was causing a conflict because they were not accounts on the same server. It works now that the others are gone. Too bad I didn't think of that the first time.
