outlook won't run!!!!

I'm aboslutely going to kick my computer thru a window if I can't fix this. Every morning it seems like someone shut my computer down (which I don't always do) the wrong way. Then when I start it up the next day outlook won't open. It just sits there with the hourglass. Someone told me I had to wait 10 minutes after shutting it down before I could start it Outlook up and get it to work. Surely there is another answer. Keep in mind this is a piece of shi# work computer. I don't have administrative rights. This is a talented delima that only a fellow geek can help with. Thanks so much. This is outlook... not outlook express by the way.
