i have a amd 2500 processor (333mhz) processor. i want to overclock it i heard its an easy thing to do..is there a program i can use todo it for me so i dont have to do it manually or whatever u have to do... and for some reason its running at a slower rate i think when i check it on my computer its says 1.83mhz..i dont think thats right shouldnt it be at 2.4 or 2.5mhz???? please help...also i got a gainward geforce FX 5700 ultra 256mb can i boost that up as weel so i can play HALF-LIFE 2 and doom 3 w/ more detail..

you cpu is running right its funny realy but thats how it runs

    the 1800+ runs at 1.5 2200at 1.7 and my 3000+ runs at 2.16

so yea your cpu is running right

as for OCing your cpu i wouldnt mess with it [but that me]

    i OC my chaintec 5700U to 525/1100

it runs normal at 475/950 [COMES OCed from chaintec to 500/1000[me i OCed mine to 525/1100

but i have a pci fan below it also blowing on it 2 60mm fans on it and the card runs great i dont OC anything other then the card [GPUs run cooler then cpus so i have some lead way

ok..so will that run half-life 2 well or should i dish out some dough an upgrade..and is there a software so i can OC my graphics card..like bump it up to the performance of the newer ones or better than a radeon 9800 pro..?

Your CPU speed is fine for Doom 3 or Half-life 2.

You can OC your video card with Coolbits, its on this site and its really easy to use. (YOU CAN RUN BOTH OF THOSE GAMES WITHOUT OVERCLOCKING EASILY)

I can run doom 3 with a FX 5200 and 2200+ Athlon, think you can?

yeah man the amd processor you got aint broken or nothing... it just runs at 1.83ghz...but if you mean ----->1.83mhz<---------...than your stuffed....i think you prefering to ghz right?! ;) ...newaise i overclocked mine to a amd 3200+ which runs at 2.2ghz and i used the program that came wit my mother board and it boosted it to 2.56ghz....but i think i can only help you to overclock yours to 2.2... if you want more info man just email me at tekung_89@hotmail.com ok ... coz i aint writing much on this weird website that i found... just gimme your info on all your pc parts and i'll try to do the best i can to help you aight... all i know is AMD cpu overclocking ...thats about it...and overclocking is a big risk your taking ...thats why i need to know more about your parts aight.... laters

Set your bus speed to 400 MHz, and your multiplier to 10.5. If you have a decent motherboard and air cooling you should be stable at 2.1 GHz.

It is possible to overclock this CPU from 1.8/1.833 to 2.2. In order to do that you have to enter your BIOS and over there go to the Advance. For exmpale, in my BIOS there's an option to overclock the CPU in 3 ways:
    1. To keep it on 2500+
    2. To overclock it to 3200+ (i think)
    3. To overclock it manually (it's not reccomended since you have to enter there specifiec variables, and even i affraid to do it)
I know someone who overclocked this CPU to 3GH (he didn't use any special cooling system), the CPU got hot, 90C, and burned after 1.5 hours of work

Just a small piece of advice from experience. Baby Steps.... One good way to fry your processor, or mobo, or pretty much anything else, is to see how much you can get out of it right off the bat. Go up a little at a time. Every chip's optimal speed will be different. It's cheaper to take your time and make sure your system's gonna be stable than it is to smoke it on your first OC. I've had 2500+ to 2.4 ghz, but not for very long.

The 2500+ is an excellent candidate for overclocking - it is the slowest of the 333 Bartons, which means most of them will be "underclocked" from the factory.

This is how things work: AMD makes cpus and needs them at different speeds to cover all the market. From each batch a bunch of cpu's will be tested to see what the best running speed for that batch will be. The slowest stable speed for the test chips is the speed the entire batch is stamped with. Thus is quite likely that your 2500+ (1.83ghz) will run stable a lot higher than this.

My own 2500+ is running at 2.2ghz instead of the standard 1.83ghz. I achieved this by bumping the FSB to 200 and changing the multiplier to 11. Windows now sees the chips as an AMD 3200+, which costs about 2.5 times what i payed for the 2500+. I was lucky with this chip and did not have to fiddle with core or i/o voltages and get away with using a fairly cheap heatsink/fan combo (ThermalTake Silent Boost).

Please note that not all 2500+'s will overclock this well. Some will need higher voltages, some won't make it as far and some won't overclock at all. Also note that overclocking will VOID your warranty - and the warranty on a boxed AMD is 3 years. Changing from a stock to non-stock heatsink reduces your warranty from 3 years to 1 year too, so be careful.

I've done the same thing as vortexredemption, running very stable, I'm using the TT DIY 3 in 1 heatpipe with the silent cat 9c (90 mm) fan, I have the chip at 1.675 volts and the mem + 0.2, I wouldn't get greedy and try and push past this 400mhz OC is alot, plus the heat. Try the Nvidia software Nvidia nTune http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp allows you to get some reference points before going to bios, plus it is “safer” cause if the system can’t handle it, it will reboot back to the default settings, instead of having to clear CMOS 50 times, once you have reference points then go to BIOS and make the changes and tweak it from there. You are taking a risk; need excellent case cooling and quality heat sink/fan, thermal compound. I also use the TT Xcontroller to control the case fans and CPU fan, keep the fans on low for idle work 47C and then turn them up for gaming 51C

I have the AMd sempron 2500+ and it runs at 2.0 Ghz, How do u guys have 1.83 GHz... U have the old athlon chips? Why is mine different... lol... Still as overclockable?
