Overclocking a laptop?

Hello. I am brand new to majorgeeks.com and have been thinking i would really like to overclock my laptop. i have never done any overclocking before. it is a Dell insperion 8600 1.4GHz Pentium M, Nvidia gforce fx 5200go 32mb and 512 ram i am unsure of the speed. I would like to know if it can be done, and how cooling should be delt with when dealing with a laptop. like i said i am very new to all of this and thanks for reading.

I dont know much if anything about overclocking but my guess is that it can be overclocked but its not samrt since laptops are not easy too cool, unlike a pc.

 

i was thinking the same thing about the cooling inssue. but i was hoping to oc it just a bit not much at all but i am very unsure about the whole setup. i was hoping some one had done this before with a laptop. thanks for the reply

 

Overclocking a laptop is problematic at best....I highly recommind not trying to OC your laptop when you dont have any overclocking experience.... Overclockign a laptop normally involves taking apart the laptop and applying hardware mods...( thow you can get lucky and find FSB jumpers / dips witches )................

 

Well i would say thats what i needed to know. I guess I will just buy some more RAM and be happy with what I have. Thanks
