hey guys, i have a HP pavilion with the Turion 64 bit AMD processor. i write alot of games, have alot of media, write code, and edit video on this machine. I am buying more memory as soon as my discount kicks in at work. Would overclocking this CPU make a noticable difference? i appreciate all input and your time.

Overclocking a laptop is never suggested. With such tight confines, and a lack of very effecient cooling, overclocking is not a great idea. That being said, most HP laptops (and laptops in general) are not overclockable due to bios limitations. You could try clockgen or ntune, but I really wouldnt suggest it, its a good way to fry your proc. Not to mention that every other component in the laptop will run warmer.

Yeah, that's a good move eric. I totally agree with Tubnotub1. If any clock speeds were to change, it should be a downclocking. It's not like a PC where you can just buy more fans, or add a water cooling system, you're pretty much restricted to the cooling it came with.

I'd suggest just getting a PC for overclocking, or being happy with what you have. But 2GB of RAM would help, so I think you should go through with that.
