You will need to post more information then that. In most cases gaming is limited by GPU performance. Perhaps try overclocking your video card first? You are running a dedicated video card correct? If not installing one would make a far larger difference then any overclock.

Well its a typical Dell D610 with a pentum m processor and intel graphic accelerator(?)

Your X300 video card was entry level when you bought that laptop. Since it's still working I wouldn't touch a thing and I doubt you can even overclock anything in there.

Upgrading the video card is probably out of the question, but your x300 should be easly overclocked via ATItool. Be very careful and keep an eye on your temps.

I didn't notice it was a laptop. That does tend to put a damper on things. ;)

That's dangerous talk around me! :p There is no such thing as a device that cant be overclocked. Its just a matter of how difficult it is to pull off. ;)

If there are no BIOS options to OC with, how would you continue? I've seen plenty of Dell BIOS's that have the volts/FSB etc. locked.:confused

    BTW, welcome back ACE.:)

I couldn't have said it any better.

Folks generally buy "overclockable" hardware, so stock systems like this Dell don't stand a chance.

As suggested, save up and build a fancy, OC'ble system later. :)

Overclocking wise, there is the BIOS layer, the software layer, and the hardware layer. Normaly in that order of preference. :-D
A good example is the pin mods and tools found here.

Thanks its good to be back. I missed everyone. :wave

Well, I'm only a 'weekend overclocker' with not much patience either. I know my machines can go further but I'm not going to risk burning up my hardware by going to the bleeding edge, I can't afford it.;) They work just fine and are where I needed them to be.

Since the folding scene is changing, I think I'll pull back the OC on my 930 to 3.6GHz as my vregs are way too hot but still haven't blown after some 3 years. Kudos to eVGA for making a great board that can take the abuse.:) It's the 3x SLI, damn board still costs $190 while Intel is cutting a lot of product off of its LGA 1366 line including the 930!
