Hiya technical guru's, i've been building, repairing, mainting, and using pc's for about 9 years, but i've never overclocked before and and kinda stuck.

    machine spec
msi k8t neo motherboard, amd athlon 64 2800+, 1.5 gb ram (3 unbranded oem chips), nvidia geforce 6600 GT 256mb.

i've read a few different posts including the one on here and tried to overclock in small intervals, but if i do i get a blue screen saying MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

default settings; fsb 200, vcore 1.550, memory voltage 2.55 and agp voltage 1.55, i tried changing this to; fsb 205, vcore 1.550, memory voltage 2.60, and agp voltage 1.55, but got the blue screen.

this happens regardless of the settings i choose, wild stab in the dark could it be the memory sticks i have are incompatible, i'm thinking of getting gell or corsair anyway.

    thx in advance, snipe!

    First read this..http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52812

What are you trying to run ( 205 x what ) ??? Have you tryed OCing by X ?? My gess is the CPU has vary low stock voltage compared to the amount it needs to be stable at stock speeds..so upping the core V a bit should help... and iv never seen mem that dident OC by at least 10MHz on stock voltage...
