    Hello.

After each windows 10 update I have problems with my HP Pavilion laptop connecting to an external monitor (an LCD TV actually).

Normally I just sigh and roll the display adapter back to it's oldest driver and it all works again. Annoying but I live with it.

However, since last update around a week ago things have become a little weird. My external display will work first thing in the morning (after rolling back the driver) but will stop working at a random time during the day, no matter what I attempt I can never get it to work again, until the next morning.

Something happens over night when the laptop is turned off which causes the external monitor to start working again (after rolling back the driver) in the morning.

I've tried replicating it by turning everything off for a few hours during the day, but it has no effect.
It seems that when it does crash, my only option is to wait for the next morning to come.

I have tried different hdmi ports on the TV (just one on the laptop), different leads, the intel graphics control panel, software repair tools etc.

I have even rolled windows 10 back to the last version, and still this is happening.

Just wondered if anyone had any advise.

FYI, I'm not overly PC literate.

You can check the physical hardware that the connections - internal and external - are clean and not damaged.
There could be a fault in any of those connections.

That's going to take a bit of time, to check internal connections, but external are fine and TV is currently connected and working. I'll happily check internal on the TV next time it fails to connect though.

Since you have to keep rolling back the driver to get it to work, have you checked that you have driver updates turned off? If not, the drivers will keep downloading and updating.

The area where I should be able to change this setting (I believe it should be device installation settings) no longer has drivers as an option, so I guess I have it turned on still. Where can I change that setting now, any ideas?

Forget that, I have now disabled that setting via the registry. Thanks, I'll see how that goes.

Thanks plodr, and Max, or the first time my TV worked as a monitor this morning without having to roll back the driver and it did not die yesterday. Fingers crossed that fixed my problem. Thanks again.
