overplay

is smartdns-overplay a virus.my subscription has expired but i .cannot get it off my computer.it still pops and prevents from connecting to some websites,like it has taken over. i contacted their support but that was no help,they ended up telling me i would have to resubscribe if i wanted to access these sites.i dont want to be forced to resubscribe, i just want to get back to where i was before using overplay.when i first subscribed i used automatic configuration from their site, i made manual changes to the system. if anyone has had similar problems with overplay and found a way to resolve them i would appreciate your advice

 

I just took a look at this service and how it's implemented. Fortunately it's very easy to remove.

For XP:

• Go to Control Panel > Network Connections
• Right click on your connection/adapter and select Properties.
• In the small scrollable window, scroll down to 'Internet Protocol' (TCP/IP)
• Left click on this entry to highlight it, then press the 'Properties' button.
• You should see the following:

Either toggle to 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' or replace the smartdns entry with your preferred DNS servers. Then press 'OK'

Finally. open a Command Prompt window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

For Vista/7:

It's basically the same except you go to Network and Sharing Center and select 'Change adapter settings'.
From there follow the XP instructions from the 2nd *
