I have formatted one of my HDD but before that I set up the computer so that only one user (administtrator) can have access to the secondary disk.
Now, I have formatted the main HDD without restoring the default settings so that everyone can be able to share the second disk. Currently, i have no access to the disk. I have gone into the properties of the drive (F), but the sharing tab isn't just there.

What can I do to regain the privilege of accessing the drive? I have really important files that I kept there even the back up of the disc I have formatted.

    Please gimme some idea.

    Shegge,
Remember how I told you to "take ownership" of those folders?
You can do the same thing on a drive. Right click, choose properties, then security tab, then advanced and you should be able to take ownership of the whole drive. Then you can reassign any necessary rights to the directories as you wish .

    Good Luck :D

Thanks Kodo, I actually wanted again get back to you but I found it's better that I put it here on the board.
When I right-click on that drive and go to properties, I only get 3 tabs (General, Tools and Hardware). The sharing tab isn't coming up.

you have to disable "Simple File Sharing" first.
Open up an explorer window. Go to tools. folder options.then view tab. Then scroll ALL the way to the bottom and uncheck it . Your security tab should then show up.

I did it, it only open the drive but not the folders and their files. Under proporties I went to the sharing tab, it still showing "don't share this folder" I did change that to "share this folder" then set permissions to user who access the folder over the network. I have even gone all the way to granting permission and full control of everything but I still get the message "the shared folder was not created at this time"
Clicking on the security tab I get this message "you don't have permission to view or edit the current setting for *filename* but you can take ownership or change auditing settings".

Man, I can't tell where I am wrong, but I guess it's something small.
    Any more idea?

    perhaps I'm missing something here.

you have 2 hard drives in the machine? if you do and you want to access the second hard drive and it is denying you access, then it has NOTHING to do with sharing. You need to take ownership of the drive as explained above.

Yes, I have two hard drives. Beleive me I am doing exaclty what you recommended (Kodo) but nothing has really changed, it unlocks the parent object but the children are still locked up.
I spent hours only on that then took a break, but nothing seems to change. It cannot unlock the whole drive at once. I even set it in safe a mode and did under the administrator, but only one file can open at a time. This is so tedious.
I wish they could be any other way of doing this, something like a tweak.

Do you guys think that this is could be caused by the fact that I formatted the other drive changed the name of hte administrator. May be it's not recognizing the new name. But then I went back and changed it to the previosu name, nothing happened. ouf:eek:

    Please help
