p.c. is running like ......

Well I will leave that one to your imagination.

I have Windows 7 R.C. running on my p.c.

Sure my p.c. is probably not the best choice for running Windows 7 however I dont believe that it should be running the way it is. it freezes, it crawls, it exaspertaes, windows seem to pop open without my asking them to on the odd occassion. My internet browsing experience is the same.

I must admit that my laser mouse is not working properly due to a loose wire. Could that affect the system?

Here is info on my P.C.
Memory load is at 80%
Total Physical memory 1023.55 mb
Available Physical memory 196.26mb

Is this just a low memory problem?

Total Virtual Memory 2 gb
Available Virtual Memory 1.92 gb

Operating system version Version 6.1(build 7100.winmain_win7rc.09)
Boot partition type NTFS

Apart from that when i was browsing last night I came acroos some info somewhere which listed that I had about 50 open ports that did not seem to belong anywhere.

I admit to testing my p.c. to the limit with things that I dont really understand like windows 7:-o

Can anyone guide me through how to determine what is going on with my p.c.
I know there must be a myriad of possible reasons. If there is any other info on the system i can provide that would help, let me know.

I could not remember whether I had so I ran the advisor from the link that you pposted.

All compatibility tests passed and no issues were detected. Except for the advice that a more uptodate driver for my modem could possibly be downloaded from the modem manufacturer.

Could the fact that their seem to be so many open ports (I am not sure where I got the info from but their appeared to be about 50 open and listening) mean anything?

In order I will download the firewall, msut gave forgotten to reinstall one after putting in Windows 7 R.C., the mouse will be replaced next week and the ram increased over the next couple of weeks. So in about three weeks or so will get a better idea how the system is running. At that stage if I need to i guess that i will post a new thread.
