I have a new P4 2.4 CPU, what I want to know is, will it work on this computer. It's a Dell Dimension 4550,

The board is a "Intel 845PE", the bus clock is 400 MHz. It's currently running a P4 2GHz. The BIOS is version AO8 which is the latest from Dell.

I know this CPU will work, but will it work at 2.4GHz ??

HERE are the specs. It says so long as the FSB chip speed is 400 or 533MHz it should work, keep in mind the obvious that it must be the same socket type, and I can't seem to find that information.

I know it runs at 400 FSB, if I run this CPU at 400 I think it will run at 1.7GHz, for it to run at 2.4 it needs 533 FSB.

Is there a simple test or a easy way to find out if I can run 533 FSB?

I found another CPU I had that I ordered for someone who never picked it up, I put it in and checked the BIOS. I'm assuming this board set itself to 533 FSB because the P4 2GHz I had was running at 400 FSB.
