p4vmm2 and vid cards

p4vmm2 and radeo 9200se pic wont work.and fx5200 light verson.will not work.get balck screen with driver error and monitor shut down and restart and pages lock up till it finally shuts down for good....onboard graphics works finf 5200 is agp..help please

 

i'm assuming p4vmm2 is your ECS motherboard? Anyway, it REALLY helps if you elaborate on your problem instead of blurting a few key words. Which OS are you using? when did this start?

did you properly remove the drivers/install new ones when changing between cards?

what have you tried... when does this occur, etc...

the proper method for changing video cards is

1.) uninstall display driver from Add/Remove programs
2.) Boot to safe mode and run Driver Cleaner to clean the system of old graphics drivers
3.) Shut down system and unplug. Put in new video card
4.) Enter BIOS, and make sure you turn off onboard graphics.
5.) boot to OS and install new drivers

 

ecs mother board..xp pro all udate..fx5200 worked fine for 5 hours then monitor shut down and restarted..and black screen came on.said a driver problem,i restarted and cursor locked up and screen lag and monitor turns off.it will retsart in a few minutes then lag gets worse icons get fuzzy andso on..(im just learning all this stuff,so consider me computer stupid for now)thanks for any help

 

did you go through the proper driver installation procedure as I listed above?

Icons getting fuzzy sounds very strange, almost like the monitor is going bad... but that shouldnt give you a driver conflict. Let me know if you've done the drivers correctly
