Hi armed with the link supplied about you may need to do a few other things, and first off tell us if you have any yellow ! marks in Device Manager and if so by what devices?

What if anything caused you to loose audio, did you have malware or have you still got malware, do some malware virus scans to check. Did you do a new clean install of Windows XP? or was this random, if random did you by any chance install any new software before this loss of audio happened and if so what app/s?


But I would follow this fix first and see how you get on.

Check to see if your audio is not muted or the audio cable to speakers is in the wrong port, also check in Services (Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services) that the Windows Audio service is Started and its startup type is Automatic, if those checks dont fix the audio issues then continue below.


Then install the UAA HD Audio driver from HERE (as you have listed you have XP SP2 then you need this driver if you had SP3 then you don't, but malware can mess this up and a registry fix is needed) then reboot, then install the Audio driver from HERE, reboot and then test your audio/


If you dont still have audio then run the FixIT HERE but then also tell us of any error messages while installing the above drivers, and if you have any yellow ! marks in Device Manager.
