Page Fault in unpaged area...

Okay, I've read through every thread on about 4-5 dozen sites related to this error and none sound like what I'm experiencing.

My mom's friend called me up a couple days ago and said she had a BSOD...she's not very good with comps so I went over to fix it. It gives the error DURING the load process no matter what way you try to open it, safe mode, SM with command, SM with networking, normal, last good, etc.... All load options do this, including when I try to do a repair from her Windows CD (XP OEM junk), it comes up. I've even tried doing a full reformat (won't load so that didn't work), it still does it.

The error is just a generic :
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
0x50
Doesn't list ANY files or anything about dumps or anything else like that. It pretty much gives NO imformation what so ever. I ran the full list of built in diagnotics and everything came up roses.


So, does anybody have any ideas on how to get around this for diagnostic purposes? Like to test the ram and drives with something other than the junk it came with?

She has no floppy installed (so can't even try flashing the bios), no new hardware, no new software, the mem stick seems to work okay in another comp....

I'm out of ideas, and without it loading at all I am kinda lost.

Anybody got a clue what I can try next? She's about to take a hammer to the poor thing...lol.
