Page Loading Problems...

I sure hope I posted this in the correct place. I decided to post here since it appears to be Internet related?

I am running the latest version of:

BROWSER: FireFox
BROWSER: Internet Explorer
BROWSER: Opera
VIRUS: Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus (paid version)
FIREWALL: ZoneAlarm Pro
SPYWARE: Webroot SpySweeper

The past month I have experienced (randomly - works fine one moment and not the next). This happens whether I'm at home using my Verizon AirCard or at a place that offer's free InterNet access.

It may work fine on a particular website one moment and problems the next moment. The following problems are the same whether I'm using FireFox or Internet Explorer or Opera.

Please note - this doesn't happen all the time - one moment no problem - the next moment a problem.

Please note that I can also download files (and upload) without any problems whatsoever. This ONLY happens when I'm using a Browser online.

1. Google - select a link - get all indications it is working but never leave the page. If I hit the link a second time - Boom - I go right to the page.

2. Google - IF I select the CACHED page - it will always go to it without having to hit the link a few times.

3. Whether I have a problem getting to a site (or not) - many times it will load the entire page but might also say it is still transfer'ing and may be 98 or 99% complete, etc.

As a matter of fact - when I was registering on this site - the bottom of the page said: Transfering data from forums.majorgeeks.com...98%

I went ahead and finished my registration without any problems.

If I hit F5 (or reload) - boom - the page will load again and finish without the message (transfering...).

4. I tried to isolate the problem to one of my "protection" packages...

I shut down AVG - same problem.
I shut down ZoneAlarm - same problem.
I shut down SpySweeper - same problem.

5. I cleared my cache, history, etc. - same problem.

6. If is being caused by one of my "protection" packages I would assume it would block the site from ever loading (which isn't the case).

I've sent message to all three vendors and you can guess what reply I get!

So, this is my last hope. If the problem would happen all the time - I might have a better chance at figuring it out. Unfortunately, it happens randomly.

I finally figured out the problem. I searched ZoneAlarm, Grisoft (AVG) and Webroot (SpyWare). Grisoft had a number of users with the same exact problem. I then noticed that just about the time I would notice a problem - my status bar would consistantly show it waiting on st1.avg.com . I shut down the AVG WebShield (prevents downloading infected files) and all my problems went away. I realize that I'm more at risk now then I was before but this will work while I look for another Virus program. I might look at Webroot and ZoneAlarm Anti-Virus program.
