I was playing medieval 2 and my game minimized to a color distorted screen and an error message telling me that an error had occured or some driver or something had stop responding or working properly. I should have written the message down as it called for running a diagnostic tool, but I rebooted thinking it was a regular common error and was then greeted by a BSOD on boot up with page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error message.

I know many people contribute this to system RAM faults, but given that the game minimized with a distorted color and smaller resolution I'm banking that it is the vid card or vid ram. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Has my vid card bit the dust?

How are things now that you've rebooted? Has the error returned? Sometimes when things get too hot, strange errors can appear. Make sure all your fans and heat sinks are clean of dust and debris, and make sure the fans are spinning correctly. You could run something that will test the stability of your video card, try this: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Video_Card_Stability_Test_d5404.html and let run for a few hours. A thourough extended memory test might be a good idea too: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Windows_Memory_Diagnostic_d3955.html Run the extended tests for at least 3 or 4 passes.

Oh yeah... if you open your PC case (and you'll have to to clean and check the fans) be sure to unplug the power cord and the phone line or cable/DSL connection as all of these can carry live voltage. After it's all unplugged, hold in the PC power button for 5 seconds to completely discharge and ground everything. Then touch the power supply to discharge any static that may be in your body...

Yeah the error occurs everytime I reboot. I get a bluescreen just as the windows screen should start loading. I emailed EVGA customer support and they told me to uninstall the drivers for my video card and reboot and download the latest. They were the latest, and when I uninstalled it (from safe mode, the only way I can get my computer to start) the computer booted fine, but then I downloaded the latest drivers (again for some reason) and tired installing them, just as the installation was finishing the blue screen popped back up and I couldn't boot my computer unless I was in safe mode. Every time I uninstall the drivers it works fine, but when I install the drivers as it is completing it craps the bed. I even tried older versions of the drivers. Still the same. So I think we can rule out the fans/heating theory, unless it overheated and caused irreperable damage or something, I dont know. All I know is its kinda mind boggling. It worked swimmingly for 2 years before this, and now it seems that drivers are being the death of my computer. Any thoughts, anyone?

Oh yeah I will run the diagnostics for the vid card when I get home. At college at the moment.

well I can't run the diagnostic because my computer now blue screens after about 3-5 minutes or what it seems like until I put a load on it.
