I have 5 hard drives running at 7,2000rpm and one at 10,000 rpm which I have Windows installed to in the assumption that it'll run a little faster. I'm wondering if my computer would run faster with the pagefile on that faster hard drive (to take advantage of the higher rpm), or on a different hard drive (so they can both spin simultaneously to access the pagefile and Windows files at once).

Which of the two would be faster, and would the effect be remotely noticeable? For frequently used programs or games, which hard drive would be better to install them to, or again would the difference be barely noticeable?

Intuition would tell me that you would have better performance putting your pagefile on a non-system drive, but I haven't done the testing to back it up. I don't think platter speed will be as beneficial as asynchronous access to operating system and pagefile.

It's always been my belief that it's best to locate it, as Mada says, on a separate hard drive, but the real way to get max speed of course is to have enough RAM that the pagefile is barely used.

Great, I appreciate the fast responses guys, and I was leaning that way too so I feel much more confident in that decision now!
