I have used Firefox for a few years now without any issues. For the last two weeks it's been painfully slow to load pages, or not responding or script issues and Shockwave plug-in errors. It actually took me about 10 minutes just to get the forum website to load.

I use Windows XP, avast anti virus and run Malwarebytes weekly. The computer is virus free and malware scans came up clean for months. And to make sure it was clean ran Super AntiSpyware and that is clean. So was trying to eliminate what could be the issue I disabled all add-ons ,extension and theme in Firefox but that didn't solve the problem. Then I uninstalled avast and installed AVG just to see it there was some conflict with Firefox and avast but the issue continues. I also run CCCleaner.

Before I tossed the computer over the balcony I decided to try a different browser, so Chrome was my next choice but the issue continued there also. I never ever use IE but gave that a shot and same thing. So still not ready to give up I installed Opera with no luck.

Yes the computer is old but the issue is new and I'm not sure where else to turn to try to fix it or if the computer is just on it's last leg.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to majorgeeks. Hopefully, someone here will help you.

So, you said both FF and chrome had the same slow down issues.

We would like to know your specs. HDD size/used, cpu, memory usage, etc.

Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for the moment. I went into Firefox which I prefer to use and disabled Shockwave and the plugin and it was like a instant fixed. Websites and pages have been loading normally for about 2 hours...so I'm wondering if this was the issue all along.

Here's the info you asked for....HHD is 298.08 GB and free space is 81%
    CPU is 4. 2.40GHz.

    Thanks.

    Update to this.
I have found one issue on certain websites, where a image should be it's a black space stating a plug in is missing. Was disabling Shockwave and the plug in a mistake even though it has fixed the issue? And it there a way to fix this so the images can be seen?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

I'll do as you suggested and post back here with the results. I'm sure it will fix the issue as MG never has failed with nothing but superior advice.

Followed your suggestion and everything is working super. Pages are now loading super quick and the plugin script errors have disappeared.

Thanks so much for all the hard work that this forum does.
