pages unresponsive

I am receiving messages frequently saying that the page has become unresponsive and am given the option of "killing" the page/s or wait until they become responsive. I have recently changed my browser to Google Chrome from Mozilla Firefox and didn't have this problem until I changed over. Also, all my computer time is spent on Facebook. I just wondered if there is some known conflict with Google Chrome and Facebook or if there is something I can do to stop this message from re-occurring. Thank you.
