Paint, and the earlier mspaint no longer open their Text window.

I use both Windows 8.1's in-built Paint, and the earlier mspaint, which I copied from XP and pasted into this PC.

They were both working correctly until this evening. The Text function in both doesn't open up its box to select Font and Size etc.

I have run the system file checker and rebooted, but that has made no difference.

What can I do to get them working correctly again?

Thank you David. Yes, I tried safe mode but it made no difference.

However, for reasons which I can't even begin to guess, both versions (the one from XP and the one which comes with Win 8.1) are now working correctly again. :confused

I must say, though, that I'm not very surprised. Win 8.1 is at least to some extent unpredictable.

    Again, thank you.

    Hi dmb

Glad to hear all is ok and weird that you needed a few reboots in reality to get the functionality back, I have to say computing is a weirdassfunkything at times!

I can only think possibly an update to say an antivirus or other app and could be Windows itself caused a issue, but this is a guess.
