Most of your Addon's might not work with the newer version FYI:wave.

FYI: All my extensions work flawlessly. :) Pale Moon version 24.0 is for me much faster than Firefox, have been surfing with it all day.

I installed Firefox in the fall of 2004, so many years it has been the default.

Pale Moon works fine on XP with SP3. See the system requirements about halfway down the page.

The work put in by the Pale Moon developer did show some significant improvements over Firefox during the testing stages; reports are also coming in from users that they're seeing good speed improvements since release.

If you do hit on an Add-on that doesn't work, reset Pale Moon first, then add in the problem Add-on first, test, then build it back up to your usual quota, would be my advice.

You may find that certain things like NoSquint may not be needed as much.

Difficult to get an overall feel of any likely problem areas at this stage, there were a lot of changes made that users may just need to get acquainted with.

Most, if not all, of the changes are listed here: http://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3048#p17246

evening gentlemen. Can't resist asking this, since IE8 is such a ugly duckling by today's standards of browsers. Is it time to get actually really get rid of IE8 and all its updates on XP and replace it with something like Pale Moon or Maxthon or one of the other newer browsers?

I use Opera full-time and I have Firefox, too, but I would jump at any chance to remove IE8 and replace it with something interesting.

By the way, anyone noticing a browser stepping out of the pack into any sort of a new development realm? Maybe now that they are all on the same or on a similar platorm at least, we will see some real dazzling improvement on the features end and some serious program identity development (to get away from the engine comparisons and add ons comparisons)...

Don't ever remove your IE browser and its updates since IE is intertwined with the OS, so just leave it be. Things could go terribly wrong if you do remove it.

The oldest OS that Pale Moon accepts is XP, SP3. A bit of info on PM: http://www.palemoon.org/

IE on Windows XP is also used for Windows Update / Microsoft Update.

With all the praise here in this topic, and elsewhere, I decided to give PaleMoon a try. Especially since they also offer a 64-bit version.

Installed it, launched it, and was disappointed! It was just an empty browser; no bookmarks, no add-ons - nothing was imported from Firefox. (There was an option to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer during the install, but not from Firefox.)

I had in the past used Waterfox, and it used the same profile as Firefox, so using Waterfox was just the same as using Firefox, but 64-bit.

I would be happy to use PaleMoon, but without all the stuff I have built up in Firefox over the years (not only bookmarks and add-ons, also auto-complete strings), it is kind of useless to me.

Thank you; that copied the bookmarks and auto-complete strings, but not the add-ons. But these are easy to reinstall.

So far, PaleMoon is a good experience!

Great!! AFAIK I have read on his forum, Moonchild will not introduce Australis to Pale Moon. Also PM (Moonchild) has an excellent forum where expert advice is given by him and others. I don't remember if the migration tool also transferred the Fx extensions, it's that long ago, memory is failing me. He also made a Profile backup tool for Pale Moon. http://www.palemoon.org/backuptool.shtml
