So after using this great site many times under cover I finally have a reason to create a user with a problem I simply could not find a solution to by Googling.

I have a long time ago uninstalled Panda Anti-virus 2008 because well it was rubbish and the only reason I had it installed was because my dad had a version with it. Now I'm trying to install a trial version of AVG Anti-virus seeing as I couldn't get the free one on their website, and it says that Panda Anti-virus is still installed. I have noticed that my computer sometimes says the same thing. Now I could just be ignorant and install it anyway but I'm pretty tired of seeing Panda Anti-virus being responsible of my security on my Windows Security Center when in fact it is not.

Is there any way to remove that annoying Panda? I have not been in and done any reg work by the way, as I simply cannot remember the appropriate commands.

    Hi

Try running the Panda removal tool from HERE (if you are running Vista then right click the tool and choose Run as Administrator) then reboot and try again with new AntiVirus install.

The Free version of AVG can be downloaded HERE

Okay, after using the Panda Uninstaller, it made a nice little progress bar with some graphics, said it would require a reboot and then nothing happened. I am running Win XP.

    Hi

Some uninstallers dont give you much info, so can you still not install AVG?

In Windows Security Center does it still list Panda as the antivirus, if so then run this tool to clear the Windows Security Centers list out, may need to install any other security applications if they dont relist in the Security Center

Beautiful, it just didn't give me any information. It now correctly lists my new anti virus. Thanks for your help.
