Panda AntiVirus 2007

So Im trying to instal Panda 2007 AntiVirus. As soon as I start installing the program it tells me that I need to unistall "PC-cillin Antivirus." I have never heard of, installed, or thought this was on my computer. The problem is that I cant unistall it...there is no "Trend Micro" programs on my comp at all. Im stuck at this point and can not install panda at all.

Has anyone else had this problem or can someone help please?

I think some ISPs (including AOL, although I could be wrong) have PC-Cillin as part of their 'monitoring' software. Do you have any ISP software installed on your system or did you at some point? Panda might be finding that old software and its built-in AV.

Just a thought anyway...

 

Hmmm...not sure....the computer is a dell dimension 3000 but I have since wiped it out and installed my own copy of XP on it.....so maybe MSN....but there isnt any AOL, Compuserve, Earthlink.....nothing like that...

Even if this is the case...how do I get Panda to get passed this....Even if I had it installed at some point....how do I go back and get rid of these traces of PC-cillin...

 

Weird. You can try going into msconfig (start->run->msconfig) and turning of any PC-Cillin related startup items and services. Then try installing Panda.

Failing that, you may have to dive into the registry (regedit), and search for Pc-cillin, although I'd urge caution doing that. Make sure you backup your registry first.

 

See this is whats really weird....I have already done the whole regedit thing....and nothing under pc-cillin.....
I dont know really how to even use msconfig....but nothing is even in there by the name pc-cillin...im lost...
