My machine is running XP and Vista Dual-boot and I installed panda anti-virus from download.com which says it was free. It was anti-virus + firewall. So I installed it and restarted as it asks. When I boot back into XP the system runs for around 2 mins and then frezzes up. I restart a couple of times and this keeps happening. So I boot back into Vista this time and move Panda manually so it does not load at start-up. I get into Xp and Panda doesn't start up which is good but it seems that its firewall has blocked my internet which is coming from a router (wireless) I go into panda (not deleted just moved) and try to disable the firewall. What I find is that the enable firewall check mark is shaded over and I cannot click on it. So i move it back into the directory and try to uninstall it. When I start the uninstall process it gives me an error message something like
So I hooked up my modem straight to the computer not the wireless method and Panda is stil blocking the internet in XP. I can use the internet in Vista but I need MA XP.

What it seems to me is that you cannot disable the firewall without internet access and internet access cannot be achieved with the firewall. AM I STUCK?

Thanks for reading my huge post and any help is appreciated.:confused

    Hi Shardul380015,

"Come on can anyone help me??" You've got to be kidding! <g>

Since you're apparently new here (2 posts in entirety) first of all you have to be patient. Snapping at people will not get you a quicker answer. The folks who answer here at Major Geeks are great and if anyone KNOWS the answer they will certainly post it as soon as they possibly can.

And secondly you likely do not know this because you're new here - but generally Saturday afternoons/evenings in here are pretty slow in here; so you might want to try posting in the Panda Security Technical Forum where they specifically work on helping users with Panda security software related issues and problems.

    Good Luck!

Sorry if it sounded like I was being impatient. I will try the panda technical forums but usually I hate going there because technical support sucks. Anyways thanks and help would be appreciated. Sorry once again if i sounded impatient since I have to finish an assignement and it is 12:00 in the night right now so I'm:zzz

    Thanks:)

    Hi again Shardul,

Oh, thats all right... everybody gets a little impatient once in a while and like I said earlier, Saturdays can be a little slow in here. Have you tried doing a System Restore to take you back to a time prior to the date that you initially installed Panda? I'm sorry but that is the only thing I can think of; because I do not use Panda. Hopefully someone else will chime in here and help you out.

Incidentally, I did a little checking for you and found out that Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 v7 (from download.com) is not FREE it is actually a 30-day "trial" version. Many sites like download.com state "Free Download" which is misleading; because often times - even though they say that it is FREE - it is not actually true. They are just hoping users will download it, realize that the software isn't FREE and then pay for it anyway.

Also the Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 v7 which listed at download.com isn't even the latest one available - Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2008 is. In the future, you might want to go directly to the developers site instead of relying on download.com whenever considering a software choice.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for your help Compuable. I visted panda's website and it seems it is a known bug that you cannot connect to the internet but it seems I cannot fix the bug because you need to have a subscription. Afterwards I managed to uninstall it but it seems to have set it self into my system.

Before when i tried to connect through my wireless connection it would say there was limited or no connectivity now it connects but doesn't connect to the internet. My router is setup fine seeing as I can connect through with Vista. I even dragged my entire setup of the router and modem over and connected it straight through but still nothing. It seems that when I click on the little wireless connection icon in the system tray the computers that usually show up with blue screens show up grey and the packets sent and recieved in total are only 43 and 5. Anybody have any idea what the problem is. Thx. Yes I know that it is very little information about the problem but help any help is apreciated. Thx. And Still :zzz
