    Hello Folks,

Panda will not allow me to turn back on "permanent protection", and I get a popup that says, "Could not load the permanent protection for files".

Has anyone encountered this? Know what is wrong?

The machine is Dell Dimentsion 4300, P3, XP SP1 (*gasp*)(lame, yet unsurmountable, reason), Zone Alarm (AV on or off panda gives same message)

    Thanks for any thoughts.

I had that problem, and I emailed Panda, and they told me to make sure that I fully uninstalled any previous antivirus programs, then to reinstall panda.
But that didn't work, so I ended up switching to a different antivirus

While that uninstall/reinstall sounds like fun, I think I will give it a pass. Thanks very much for your research!

Have you updated anything lately and which Panda are you using?

    Steve, Excellent question.

Yes. I could not get panda to update, so I switched to the ZAP antivirus. I finally get panda updating again, turned off Zone Alarm AV, turned on panda, particularly "enable permenant file protection", and and this error comes up.

BTW, for panda customers who cannot update their AV even though subscription still valid. Reset your password on panda's site, plug new password in General Options, Update tab, User ID. This worked for me.

The only information I can come up with is: After updating your operating system to a newer version of Windows, the (Panda) permanent protection may not load.

The article is about Panda Antivirus Titanium. I did notice that they refer to an Uninstall-Repair feature available. You might check and see if your version has it and try that.
