OK so this HP Officejet 4215 is getting a bit long in the tooth but it still works well - when you feed a sheet of paper by hand that is. The paper feed rollers just can't grab the next sheet any more. I've cleaned the rollers as recommended but no improvement. Anyone have any tips for this situation?

    Most likely worn rollers Earth.

You could try some paper feed recoat tape, but sometimes even a smooth surfaced 'Gaffa' type tape may do the trick if you have some lying around in the garage?
Give the roller surfaces another clean using WD40 and let dry before application.
Worth a shot before ditching the printer or forking out for new rollers!

    Is this what you did?
    1. Turn off and unplug your HP printer. Pull out your printer’s paper tray and locate the printer rollers on the paper tray. Each roller is gray or black, and they are made of rubber. Remove the rollers from the tray. On HP inkjet printers, the printer roller is not on the paper tray; it is on the area inside of the printer where the paper tray slides into the unit. Remove the paper tray and sit your HP inkjet printer upright, so the paper tray area is facing upward, and then look for the printer roller.
    2. Pour 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol or clean water onto a lint-free cloth and scrub the paper or internal tray rollers with the cloth. Fold the cloth in half and repeat the cleaning process until the rollers are free of dust and debris.
    3. Wipe the rollers with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dust or debris. Let the rollers dry completely before sliding the paper tray back into your printer.

@plodr - yes, that's basically it, didn't help though. @Rep - don't see how I an access the rollers to apply tape as they aren't in the paper tray, they are mounted inside the printer body. I'll have to have another go though as still have about £40 worth of ink cartridges.

Yeh damn ink cartridges, they cost more than a new printer does hey!
Get that PC toolkit out bro, if it goes south nothing lost, nothing gained.
If its possible, the old cartridges may fit the new HP officejet printer as spares but that's probably like trying to win lotto? :)
