    Hi People...
I'm looking for a laptop to use in an engineering environment, and I require the use of a parallel port dongle in order to use a piece of software I run (edgecam 2005).

It will not work with a port-replicator or docking station parallel port... it simply has to be on the motherboard.

I have hunted and hunted and can't find one anywhere.

I heard rumours of a Lenovo one being produced here in the U.K. a year or so ago that had a big screen, and a parallel port onboard... it was apparently designed for CAD use, (which would suit me)

I would really value a hand here please (preferably with links)

Many thanks for any help or direction guys.
    :)

Not sure you are going to find one - and if you do, it will already be pretty old and therefore, a reliability issue. Have you looked into a USB to Parallel Adapter?

You might try contacting the Edgecam folks, though I suspect they will want you to upgrade to a newer version.

Yeah, IBM laptops back at the T42 I believe(before Lenovo) had lpts on board.
But here at work we went to Dell & they had a special program that used a LPT dongle so the contacted the manufacture and got a USB dongle instead.
