Parallel Zip100 Drive/win98se: Icon Displays Error But Drive Works?

I just want to report funny behavior on a Win98SE minitower I got recently. It has issues with DOS memory in Windows mode, but that is not the purpose of this thread. I installed both an Iomega Parallel Zip100 drive and Win98 drivers. Now, the icon displays an error notification, but the drive works and can read folders and files properly. Now, when I access these files, the error icon still displays. I don't know why this is.

 

back in the day, i had a zip drive at work on a win95 computer. i also had iomega's software installed for the zip drive. everything worked, but the icon for the zip drive would just display random icons. i have idea where the icons were coming from. but everyday, i would open up 'my computer' just to see what new icon the zip drive was displaying. it was just a nice bit of randomness in my life. it's one of those... what do you do or what do you say. the zip drive worked, so i just left it alone.

 

oops, it should say -> i have NO idea where the icons were coming from. arrgh.

 

Speaking of randomness, I have, like and use a program called Bionix Wallpaper. It allows me to automatically switch between several wallpapers every 20 seconds. It is not my program, but I like it. Try Gogling it.
