I am running Vista on an Asus G2S Intel(R) core(TM)2 Duo Cpu T7500 @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz 2047 MB Ram 32-bit Operating System. Main operating system Vista is on my C: drive with 74.6 GB & Data D: with 66.7 GB. I have my music, work files & pictures on my D: drive. I have a few games Flight sim X, Prince of Persia, G3 flight sim on my C: drive & the drive is 65% used. My D: drive is only 15% used. My questions are is it better to leave drive C: with little as possible & fill up drive D: with all entertainment software & if so can I transfer the games (and how to) on drive C: to drive D: without uninstalling them & reinstalling them on drive D: Is having 2 partitions better for security reasons? Or does it make searching more faster & efficient? In other words what are the main reasons for having more than one partition? Hope this isn’t asking to much for one post. P.S. I’m not having any problems with system for now but be assured it won’t be long until I screw something up. I’m really good at that. :confused Much appreciate your help.

Tha main reason WHY to create 2 partitions on 1 HD is,if you corrupt Windows beyond repair(and you really good at that):D,and you must reinstall the OS,then everything that you have on D:drive will stay intact(music, videos, pictures, files important for you, some security data, etc),after you reinstall the OS.Still, that doesnt mean that you can put every software or game just with copy&paste.Remember that all software (and games) installed on C:drive will sign in registry of the Windows,so if you move the software to D:drive the software will not work.So you must uninstall and reinstall the software. When you reinstall the software in section were you will be asked were to place the software, choose D;drive, and continue with installing.

:) Thanks that makes a lot of sense. Now that I’m clear on that bit, is it better to have the larger games on the D drive (leaving less clutter on the C) or just leave them on the C drive & save my progress on the D drive.

Either way you will lose Gigs.BUT,I will recommend to install the games in D:drive, and leave the C:drive for softwares, and applications.
