Partition H: now is a RAW file?

Somehow one of my partitions ( H: ) on my Maxtor external drive can not be accessed because it's showing that it's a RAW file in the partition structure? Don't know what happened but I need to recover the files in that drive. Are there some fairly simple to comprehend methods? I'm considering using "testdisk 6.12" for my 64 bit XPS Ultimate 7 system. I've included a shot of my partition on my Maxtor. Thankyou

 

The program that I am most familiar with that will retrieve data from a RAW disk is MiniTools Power Data Recovery, free for home use. Make sure you do not save the recovered files back to the external drive after the scan or you will corrupt them. Save them to your computer's internal drive.

Edit: If MiniTools does not work, you may be able to repair the partition with either TestDisk or Partition Wizard.

TGEll.....thankyou.......Minitools worked but since the file size to recover was 24 gigs I had to purchase the upgrade which was no problem. Thankyou for your recommendation

 

Wow, that kind of sucks. It used to be there was no limit on data recovery. I guess I will have to hunt down the old version. But I am glad you got your data back.
