I just got a new toshiba laptop with a 80 Gb HD.

I prefer to partition the HD in two parts, while the system was already installed on a unique 80 Gb disk. So, I reinstalled Wind XP with the recovery disk, choosing to put the system on a 30 Gb partition.

However, after terminating the process, I have only a 30 Gb C: hard drive. I would like to create a D: hard drive with the remaining 50 Gb available.

    How should I do?

    Thanks,

You cant see the remaining 50gb in My computer?
Go to "Disk Management" you should be able to see the unused 50gb, right click & format

If you have a XP cd there is a simple partition manager on it. All you have to do is boot up using the cd and then when it gets to the partition manager just select the unallocated space and hit format. I don't remember if it tells you to select a file system, but if it does, just tell it to format to NTFS (unless you want another file system for, say, Linux or something). Then you can use another partition manager or something.

    Edit: Asus' way is easier.
