Partition Magic

I want to purchase the program today. As I need to reformat my drive and I don't want to lose my mp3's. Is there anything else I need to buy/do?

Anyone used Partition Magic before?

 

How does it work? Just create a single drive using Partition Magic then reformat?

 

If you want to save your mp3,burn a cd.Or.......If you have more than one partition put the music in one partition and format the others.If you have only one partition then you need partition magic to split it or create a new partition from the free space.You can also resize partition with it.Remember any partition you format,the data inside is lost.

 

I've used partition magic for a little while. I'm not the worlds expert on this program, but it does a nice job for what I've done with it. With that said, your original question was whether or not you should do anything else before using partition magic. The answer is YES. Back up all of those critical files to CD or DVD before installing and using this program. It is a wonderful program, but reformatting and partitioning drives ALWAYS poses a data risk. Take the time to do it right and you won't be sorry. Once you get everything backed up, go ahead and reformat and partition the drive. Generally I would recommend that you partition the drive as soon as you reformat, update, and reinstall windows. That way you can set up a partition that has windows only on it and one partition that has only your files and stuff that you put on it. Make the partition for windows about 2 gigabytes larger than the space that windows takes up.
